There were a lot of whispers and rumors about the new Steven Spielberg film revival of the all-time classic musical West Side Story from 1961 especially since this was Spielberg's first attempt at a musical. Those fears were calmed somewhat when in September original screenwriter, the late Stephen Sondheim saw it and said in a Late Night with Stephen Colbert interview that "it's really terrific."
Phoebe and I watched the new film an hour before the recording of this podcast and we are delighted to tell you that it is powerful, funny, heartbreaking and honestly feels monumentally vital and important.
Also, we cried a lot because we believe in love.
